Across the globe, there are many medically underserved populations for whom access to medical personnel and hospitals is nearly impossible. Millions of individuals in these populations are suffering needlessly from sickness and disease that, if left untreated, could lead to death or long-term disability. Many of these illnesses are preventable and easily treatable with modern medicine.
There is a great need for skilled doctors and surgeons to help treat these populations and impart state-of-the-art medical knowledge to medical students and doctors in these countries.
Mission Statement
“The mission of AGC is to bring health and hope to the medically underserved population around the world, while providing humanitarian assistance and medical education to those who need it the most.”
Vision
AGC envisions a world with a population free of diseases and pain, and living a life full of hope and joy.
Goals
The organization’s goals, consisting of two key components- service and education, are as follows:
- Provide free medical services to the medically underserved populations of the world, regardless of age, gender, race, ethnicity, religion or nationality
- Provide international health education to medical students, who are the future providers of health care, through volunteer medical trips to these underserved populations
- Provide continuing education to international health care providers as a means towards self-sufficiency
Previous Missions
Since its inception, nine missions led by teams of highly motivated nurses, physicians, healthcare workers, and technicians have treated over 5000 patients in Egypt, India, Zambia, Colombia, and Vietnam. They have performed over 400 operations and 600 non-surgical procedures.
