CALL TO ACTION: Tell Congress that Health Reform Must Increase Medicaid Rates - Posted 1.12.09
One of CMA's top priorities is to preserve the House bill's Medicaid rate increase in the final agreement.
Please contact the California leaders on the Conference Committee, as well as California Senators Dianne Feinstein and Barbara Boxer and urge them to increase Medicaid's low reimbursement rates as part of health reform. Tell them:
- Half of current Medi-Cal patients already struggle to find a doctor because rates do not cover the cost of providing care.
- Without increased rates, the 2 million new Medi-Cal patients will be unable to find a doctor.
- Without access to a doctor, these people will continue to postpone care, causing their health and lives to suffer.
- Without access to a doctor, easily treatable conditions can worsen or become chronic, getting more difficult and expensive to treat.
Congress must increase Medicaid rates or this historic effort to improve the lives and health of millions of Americans will fail.

Give your name, specialty and city/county and urge them to support the House health care reform bill that increases Medicaid rates to ensure patients have access to a doctor.
