The Orange County Medical Association is committed to the safeguarding of their on-line users' privacy. Please read the following policy to understand the rules and procedures followed by OCMA in handling personal information provided to us over the internet.
1. What information does OCMA collect?
In order to facilitate access to the Members Only side of the OCMA site, OCMA collects member profile information (name, address, telephone and fax numbers, email address, medical license number, specialty, medical school, year of graduation, faculty affiliation and other information) for its database.
Members are given the opportunity to update their profiles which are made available to the public. Members who participate on the advocacy and commenting features of the site agree to have their name and perspective shared with other OCMA members via online discussion. Participation in these features is completely volunteary.

2. Mailing List Policies
Users e-mail addresses are stored in a secure database so we may communicate valuable information more efficiently. Members will receive only materials created by OCMA for OCMA members. We will not share or sell the e-mail address with any other organization.
You may opt out of any communications from OCMA (by e-mail or postal mail), by clicking the “Opt-Out’ choice on any OCMA electronic materials or by contacting the OCMA office.
3. Access to Your Personal Information
OCMA members have the opportunity to view and correct his or her membership data and make any corrections as they wish.
4. How OCMA Uses the Personal Information We Collect:
OCMA uses the personal data we receive in order to enhance our member services. Data is shared with the California Medical Association and American Medical Association and component societies in order to assure the highest possible level of accuracy in the three organizations' lists of physicians.
The data is used internally to electronically distribute our email newsletter, as well as other electronic and hard copy newsletters and to distribute Southern California Physician, our print journal for physicians and other in house mailings.
OCMA's mailing list, consisting of names and addresses but not telephone or fax numbers or email addresses, is rented to parties interested in communicating with our membership typically for commercial purposes. Use of the lists is carefully controlled by a strict written agreement prohibiting further distribution of mailing list and use solely for the designated purpose.
OCMA secures the personal information, including credit card numbers, received from individuals who make online membership dues for automated annual renewal.
OCMA uses a secure server with 128-bit encryption to assure the security of the data being transmitted to OCMA. OCMA's database is protected from unauthorized access by a series of highly sophisticated software protection programs.
OCMA will disclose personal information to third parties if we believe in good faith that the law requires us to do so.
OCMA reserves the right to amend this policy at anytime. Amendments will be posted to The Orange County Medical Association at this location.
5. Use of Cookies
The Orange County Medical Association does use cookies to store and sometimes track information about your use of the site. A cookie is a small amount of data that is sent to your browser from a web server and stored on your computer's hard drive. The cookie helps us know who you are and helps us measure traffic on our site.
6. Amendment
OCMA reserves the right to amend or alter the Terms of Use at any time without notice by posting such change to this site.
