Student & Resident Resources
What We Offer: You are the FUTURE, and together we are STRONGER!
OCMA/CMA offers a place for you to meet other medical students and residents, as well as practicing physicians through numerous yearly events. Nothing beats interacting with peers who face the same challenges you do each and every day - and no organization can better represent you when local pressures are making day-to-day life as a medical student/resident more challening.
Student/Resident Participation Opportunities: Councils & Committees
Many students/residents participate on CMA committees because of the opportunity to network with physicians and work in an area of interest. The time commitment varies depending on the council or committee, which usually meets two to four times per year, sometimes by conference call.
See available medical student participation opportunities.

• eligible medical specialists with five or more years of graduate medical education to qualify for up to $2,000 of forgiveness annually and up to $10,000 over five years of service.
• disclosure requirements for private lenders that will improve private student loan transparency
• disclosure requirements for certain federal lenders that will make sure applicants are provided notice about terms of consolidation
• and a Government Accountability Office (GAO) study that will analyze the impact of debt on medical school graduates
OCMA/CMA urges Congress to restore Medical Student Loan Economic Hardship Deferment Program
OCMA/CMA is seeking to restore the 20/220 pathway medical student loan economic hardship deferment program that Congress eliminated last year. This program allows medical students to defer loan repayments until they are finished with their residency training.
