Tell Congress that Health Reform Must Increase Medicaid Rates to Ensure Access to Care

Congressional leaders are working to merge the House and Senate health care reform bills into one final bill. These negotiations are expected to be completed in the next three weeks. CMA has sent a delegation to Washington, D.C., to lobby for critical improvements, but needs your help to ensure that these important provisions make it into the final bill.

Schwarzenegger Sends Letter to Congress on Health Care Reform - Posted 8.3.09

On Friday, Gov. Schwarzenegger urged congressional leaders to reduce states' burdens in financing Medicaid. He also expressed support for health care reform proposals that boost preventive care and expand health insurance coverage. Office of the Governor release.

New Report Outlines $1.2 Trillion in Funding for Health Care Reform - Posted 7.7.2009

John Podesta and former Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle led the media effort for the report, which the Center for American Progress released. The report estimates that more than $400 billion could be generated for reform efforts through Medicare and Medicaid savings, new taxes and modernization. USA Today et al.

Advocacy Opportunity: Please Contact your California Congressional Representative over the Memorial Day recess!

The California Congressional Delegation will be home over the Memorial Day recess from Friday, May 22 to Monday June 1. CMA/OCMA would like to urge all member doctors to make appointments with their Members of Congress during that week. Congress is expected to start to vote on the Medicare payment reform legislation in June. The other major health reform bills will follow in June and July. So it is a crucial time to talk to our Representatives!
